Pro canyoning tips
Pro tip for canyoning in Annecy
1- Canyoning choice:
- If you are really afraid of heights (over 1.5 m), choose the Green
- If you have strong apprehensions about immersion or confinement, come and try the Blue
- If water and height do not scare you (knowing how to jump more than 4 m high into the water), then the Red is for you!!
- If you have a disability that prevents you from doing any of the three previous routes, then handicanyon is for you.
We are bound to have a course that suits you!
2- An update on your physical and mental condition:
If you have any health issues (back, knees, shoulders, etc.), please let us know when you first get in touch and we will adapt! We have already taken people with serious disabilities (paraplegia, amputation) canyoning! Everything is possible, taking a few precautions all the same.
3- Comfort during canyoning:
Remember also to go to the loo before putting on the suit!
If you have long hair, tie it back. This will prevent it from getting caught or tangled in all sorts of objects.
If you wear glasses, you can keep them in the canyon. If a jump presents itself (jumps are never mandatory), you will simply need to put them in your suit and put them back on immediately after jumping.
4- Safety and canyoning:
Since the canyon is a slippery environment, it is also necessary to have good footwear with shoes that grip the rock well and support the ankle.
During potential descents, you must use your hands, your feet but also your backside by lowering your centre of gravity as much as possible; in this way you will be very stable.
If you are very curious and want to see what is beyond the waterfall, you will only be able to do so on condition that you are secured by a rope. Beware of uncontrolled slips!
In canyoning, we all try to follow one another, which helps to protect the flora and fauna as much as possible, as well as enabling us to pass through the most comfortable areas known to the instructor.
Canyoning is a fantastic sport; it gives access to incredible landscapes yet so close to us. A real breath of fresh air. But like all physical activities, there is a greater or lesser expenditure of energy depending on the planned route. It is therefore important to have eaten before starting the descent of the canyon in order to avoid hitting the wall.«

And if you are an independent practitioner, make sure your level of practice and analysis allows you to navigate the canyon, and if not, please do not hesitate to ask us for advice or to be accompanied, as we can also help you improve your skills!
