**Canyoning Trip Progression** A canyoning trip typically involves the following stages: 1. **Meeting and Briefing:** You'll meet your guide at a designated spot. They'll explain the day's plan, discuss any potential risks, and answer any questions you might have. 2. **Equipment Distribution:** You'll be provided with all the necessary safety and comfort gear. This usually includes a wetsuit, helmet, harness, buoyancy aid, and appropriate footwear. You'll be shown how to wear everything correctly. 3. **Approach:** You'll hike or walk to the starting point of the canyon. This can vary in length and difficulty depending on the canyon's location. 4. **Introduction to Techniques:** Once at the canyon, your guide will demonstrate and have you practice essential canyoning techniques. This will include: * **Walking in water:** How to navigate rocky and slippery riverbeds. * **Abseiling/Rappelling:** How to descend using a rope and harness. * **Jumping:** If applicable, how to safely jump into deep pools from designated points. * **Sliding:** How to slide down natural rock slides. * **Swimming:** How to move through water sections. 5. **Progression through the Canyon:** The core of the activity involves moving through the canyon, utilising the techniques learned. You'll navigate waterfalls, pools, natural slides, and rock formations. Your guide will lead the way, ensuring your safety and offering assistance. 6. **Breaks and Refreshments:** The guide will manage the pace and include short breaks for hydration and snacks, as well as for enjoying the scenery. 7. **Descent and Exit:** As you reach the end of the canyon, you'll follow the guide's instructions for the final descent or exit point. 8. **Return to Start:** Depending on the location, you might hike back to the starting point or arrange for transport. 9. **Debriefing and Farewell:** After the activity, you'll have a chance to discuss the experience with your guide and thank them. You'll then return your equipment.
